O decisivo na política… has the format of a rally and is literally a ‘one man show’. One man alone on stage gives a long speech and commands everything that creates the emotional atmosphere for his words and everything that frames his presence: the lighting, the video, the soundtrack, the air current that makes the flags wave, the alarm bells, etc. His speech is made up of excerpts from the speeches of many heads of state from the 20th century (from Stalin to Mandela, from Mussolini to Arafat) that follow one another without it being clear where one ends and the next begins, regardless of the ideological relevance of each one. Above all, the rhetoric is exploited, both in terms of the words and the way they are spoken, highlighting the machinations of artificiality. The rally progresses towards a progressive party atmosphere which, in the end, gets out of hand. He ends up naked, smeared with cream from the cake he’s trying to eat, and framed by a fast-paced video clip with flashes of pornographic films.
