As part of the project that Mala Voadora is implementing in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém, and with the aim of promoting the emergence of artistic production clusters made up of people from the local community, we are now accepting applications for the fourth edition of Radio Star.

The group, consisting of young people from the municipality of Santiago do Cacém, will combine accounts of their experiences with the texts Coro dos maus alunos (Choir of Bad Students) by Tiago Rodrigues and Punk Rock by Simon Stephens. Directed by Rita Monteiro and with consulting by Jorge Andrade from Mala Voadora, the project will consist of a collective dramaturgy work shared by the young actors.

Adolescence is often a time of rebellion, and here we explore the opportunity to work with young teenagers to confront what they really experience and feel in their social and student context with what others—the “authors”—imagine their lives to be. A confrontation between “realistic” texts and concrete reality.

Rehearsals begin on January 16 and will take place every Friday (from 6pm to 8pm) until July, at the Cercal Parish Council. The activities will revolve around the school experience itself, exercises in which they fictionalize that experience, and the reading and analysis of dramatic texts about students and their inherent rebelliousness.
