mala voadora will prove that Paradise once existed on Earth, and that it still lies buried today in the ice of the
North Pole. Paradise cannot have ceased to exist after the expulsion of Adam and Eve. It has merely become inaccessible, and the role that the ice has been fulfilling over the millennia is precisely this: to keep Eden intact and inaccessible. If so, what would be necessary for us to regain access to Paradise and enjoy its beauty and the pure pleasures it offers? That the ice, one day, due to some warming phenomenon, might melt again. Could this be the meaning of global warming? To return Paradise to humanity? Will we gain access to the oil beneath the ground, and will we be able to use it as the oil of last rites before we begin our journey to eternal paradise?
Pólo Norte is a performance in which Seth Bockley rewrites for mala voadora the argument that
William Fairfield Warren, the first president of Boston University, presented in his book Paradise Found,
the Cradle of the Human Race at the North Pole – a Study of the Primitive World.
