Starting from a “monograph” format and drawing on the vast photographic archive of Mala Voadora, the book celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary relativizes the mechanisms of historical production. Images recorded during performances are manipulated in Photoshop to acquire a fictional dimension, becoming as staged as a performance. Mala Voadora will have a monograph that is itself “theater” and in which the passage of time is reversed: we started out old and will end up very young. Rather than attributing ourselves a “heritage” status (there is nothing more boring than people who take themselves too seriously), we prefer to use this celebration as an opportunity to create a fiction opposed to maturity.
