Locker Room Talk is written by Gary McNair, one of the most outstanding scottish playwrights of the present time. Talks between men, about women. It’s shocking for its sexist or misogynistic content, and it’s shocking for the way we are confronted with the fact that such content is more expected than we would like to. Men talking about women with the obscene ease usual for many in talks between men, or with the obscene ease that led Donald Trump to use the expression “Grab her by the pussy” without knowing he was being heard. What we call “toxic masculinity”. In the show, these talks are reproduced by women. They’re displaced to a feminine “place of speech”, matching the voices on the conversation and the subject of the conversation. This is what mala voadora proposes to four portuguese actresses.
