Quando nós, os mortos, despertarmos

Quando nós, os mortos, despertarmos or When We Dead Awaken, the last play written by Henrik Ibsen, published in 1899 and staged for the first time in the next year, portrays the individual and the irreparable loss of itself, the presence of a missing body and the absence of a present body, and finally the sacrifice and violence of a life for art.

Rubek, and his wife, Maja, spend the Summer at a small city's seasid resort. While dealing with the tension and awkwardness of their relationship, she gets closer to Ulfheim, a rude hunter.

Meanwhile, Rubek meets Irene, a beautiful woman from his past, that awakens his memories, desires and deepens his crisis. The drama ends away from the plain, on a high montain where they seek the intense (and unreachable?) desire for life.
