Moçambique

September 27th at 9.30 pm . show Moçambique by mala voadora . Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Guimarães

Jorge Andrade was born in Mozambique asceu in 1973 and came to Portugal at the age of 4, but in Mozambique (the show) he builds a biography as if he had returned there and lived there all his life. To make this story credible, we imposed it on the History of the country. Jorge Andrade, tomato paste manufacturer, is now part of the Mozambique's History, of its political vicissitudes, of its situation in the context of the Cold War, of the processes of the international economy to which the newly independent country was faced up to.

Moçambique is a show in which six actores are hired to pretend they're Mozambicans. They discuss the History as they attempt to assemble the narrative of an enterprise, they sing tomate paste advertising spots in capitalist countries' languages and communist countries' languages, and dance to represent parts of history until they are exhausted.
