Dois por Dois . Greg Wohead - Selected Artist 2017
Greg Wohead is a London-based writer, performer and live artist originally from Texas. He makes theatre performances, one-to- one pieces and audio work. His work sometimes orbits around larger-than-life American icons, for better or worse. He has toured internationally, having shown and developed new work at Battersea Arts Centre (UK), Mayest (UK) Forest Fringe (UK), Orchard Project (New York), Bios (Athens), LAX Festival (Los Angeles), Fusebox Festival (Austin). He is an Associate Artist at The Yard and Shoreditch Town Hall in London.
In residency at mala voadora between 16 August and 16 October, Greg Wohead will be working on in different projects, like Call it a Day, a theatre performance made from in loop recreations of a talk wih a Amish couple who decided to que decidiu abdicate of modern technology in the name of their religion, and Story #2, in collaboration with Rachel Mars, a research on the possibilities of radical narrative covertly influenced by political events of 2016.
The residency is supported by the Municipality of Porto and is part of DOIS POR DOIS, mala voadora's international residency programme launched in 2017. The selection of the artists is made anually by mala voadora together with its partners organizations for 2017-2018: Forest Fringe (UK), Festival Alkantara (PT) and Hablar en Arte (ES), these organizations were invited to help us to work in a broaden international context, from mala voadora's two upstairs studios at Rua do Almada, in Porto.
