The show was the result of a comission from the “O Estado do Mundo” Forum, part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of F. C. Gulbenkian. Starting from Walter Benjamin's homonymous essay, interpreted as a monologue, the show then develops as a journey through books of different species, organized in 5 cycles: ship (bourgeois intrigue); drama (about love); the 1001 bottles (on theatricality itself); lichens (descriptive texts); and, finally, melancholy (the presentation of a still life). Each of these cycles corresponds to the attempt to install a dramaturgy and, repeatedly, to the failure of that attempt.
