“What a powerful beast, this one, a voracious and tentacular animal lying asleep here with its arms and legs spread all over like an octopus: an eccentric octopus, with no central head, no natural conformation; a huge, shapeless mass breathing through various mouths, resting (abandoned) and sleeping, sighing, groaning, sometimes whining. It is not visible, whatsoever, but inside clothes or coming out of them someway. It looks like an explosion that hit a group of people, leaving but a bunch of mutilated bodies: a child’s leg, a naked arm, a closed fist (a goodbye?... a threat?...), a trunk barely covered with a crumpled white shirt. Or could it have been a sudden collapse, a snow avalanche which covered us all, randomly, and there we stayed, quiet, ticking, confident about an improbable rescue, more and more unlikely over the passing of time (and time goes by!), waiting for the morning light that always comes, for the living and for the dead, the quiet and the babblers, those who give up and those who, against all odds, still manage not to lose hope”.
