Jimenez Lai, founder of Bureau Spectacular, based at Los Angeles, is the guest of the first session of the Cycle "Aulas de Autor . Narrativas Desenhadas" (Author classes . Drawn narratives)

Jimenez Lai (1979) develops activity in the fields of art, culture and education. He lived and worked at a shelter in Taliesin desert and resided in a container at Van Lieshout Atelier on the Rotterdam quays. Before founding Bureau Spectacular, Lai collaborated in several international workshops, including MOS and Office for Metropolitan Architectura - Oma. Lai's work has been published and exposed internationaly and his White Elephan integrates MoMa's colecction. His first book, Citizens of No Place: An Architectural Graphic Novel was publiched by rinceton Architectural Press (2012) with a grant from the Graham Foundation. The second version of this book integrates the New Museum's archive and is part of the Younger Than Jesus show. Lai received several awards, including the Architectural League Prize for Young Architects and the Debut Award of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale of 2013. In 2015, Lai organized the exhibition Treatise and the publication of the homonymous series by Graham Foundation. In 2017, Lai and his atelier exhibited a large scale installation at SFMOMA based on the drawing insideoutsidebetweenbeyond (2014), which the Museum acquired in 2015.

The forth cycle of classes, named "Aulas de Autor . Narrativas Desenhadas" (Author classes . Drawn narratives), happens between February and July, 2018. Other guests of the cycle include Sir Peter Cook, Jean-Paul Jungmann, Luis Miguel (Koldo), Lus Arana e Mélanie van der Hoorn. The cycle is coordinated by Carlos Machado e Moura, Rui Neto and Noémia Herdade Gomes.
