Amazónia
Amazónia is a mala voadora's project that - among other programming activities around ecology - will create a show, that is going to premier on November 9th at São Luiz Teatro Municipal, in Lisbon, included in the programme of Lisbon Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2017. A group of avant-garde artists goes to Amazonia to shoot an ecological soap opera. The planet needs it, people are interested, it's ethical, it's urgent, it is going to have audience. Because it wouldn't make sense to address an ecological theme without being ecological, this show's concretization is based on the element's thrift: the set is borrowed, the light design is recycled, the music is from other mala voadora's show and the scenes are copied from other people's shows.
The show implies three narratives – the long History of the enterprises in Amazonia, the story of the group of artists that is going to Amazonia to shoot an ecological soap opera, and the plot of the soap opera itself - but they're going to get mixed up. The group of artists who are recreating the forest exploration that happened in the past insists on the realism of this recreation because ... well, because nothing is what it seems.
