To put on this show celebrating Centro Cultural de Belém’s (CCB) 25th anniversary, this institution joins forces with mala voadora to get funding from the various ministries and, together, they end up absorbing a significant part of the state budget. The show becomes a media bomb and it becomes increasingly difficult to manage the influx of people trying to take part. Calamities happen, circumstances are created that are favourable to populisms that advocate exclusion, and a dictator tries to take control. Fausto is a show that never happens. What the audience sees is media coverage of this non-event. There are live broadcasts from the stage, press conferences, TV debates to discuss the situation, the stage is invaded, there are injuries, a procession, a rally… The stage is set and the extras are dressed in gala costumes (the actors are their employees), just for the applause .
